The Thorny Devil is a type of lizard that is approximately the size of a human hand. It is covered with cone-shaped spines and has a spiny hump behind its head. They use this hump to protect themselves from predators by putting their head between their front legs and exposing the hump. |

The Thorny Devil is usually yellow and brown, but these colors change depending on what type of soil it is crossing. This ability of the Thorny Devil to change colors is called "camouflaging" and makes it easier for them to hide in the flat and dry desert climate. |
